Following on from the installation of water supplies from bore wells in 2000 and
2002, there is a need for a constant supply of water in the locality. The intention
is to install a water pipeline from Meriani, approximately 3 miles from Mgutwa,
for which planning consent has been given. The cost for this project has been estimated
to be in the region of £15,000.
The water supply from bore holes in the Shambarai area is almost non-existent (2011).
All water in the area is supplied from Mirerani from either bottled water or from
The supply of water from Mirerani to Mgutwa will be of benefit to home and farmsteads
and for irrigation and water holes for animals en route to the Mgutwa complex.
